Having a blast at the Citadel in Victoria on the Island of Gozo. The French were quickly removed once they saw our superior firepower. Thanks to the Maltese tourist board who paid for our flight out, fed us and transported us about and billeted us in some of the most remarkable buildings we have seen. In Victoria we slept on the floor of the cellar which houses a museum normally.
In Fort St Elmo we were billeted in the Sacra Infermeria, a huge hospital that took it's first patients way back in 1574. Upon our arrival we were given an enormous sack of black powder by the Government representative, and told to use it all up before we left. Wouldn't it be great if every government did that! In the picture above we are firing through the emportment looking out over Valletta harbour. The chap sunbathing on the rocks below did not heed our warnings but scarpered quick once we opened fire. After the battle we had a little time for group pictures
And the trip back from Gozo allowed for some relaxation |
