To be honest there aren't too many pieces of music orchestrated for the cannon, but when we play, we do make quite an impression. The most famous is of course Tchaikovsky's '1812 Overture' which depicts the defeat of Napoleon and the retreat of his army after they had overstretched their resources in their drive to Moskow.

Our venues are some of Britain's finest country houses (which you may recognise if you watch much television). We have played at Keddleston Hall in Derby, Longleat House, Belvoir Castle, Losely House near Guildford to name a few. These are often featured in British television period dramas, and shown around the world. Below is Castle Howard, chosen by Evelyn Waugh as the romantic setting for his Novel 'Brideshead Revisited'. Granada chose it as the principal location for their major television series.

The magnificent palace was designed in 1699 by Sir John Vanburgh, with the aid of Nicholas Hawkesmoor, for Charles Howard, 3rd Earl of Carlisle, and still lived in by the Howard family.

Many of these concerts and 'Fetes Champetres' feature the Midlands Symphony Orchestra and their conductor Iain Sutherland. Narrations are often by Robert Hardy CBE

On other occasions we have accompanied the word famous Royal Symphony Orchestra (In Bedford, and at the Orchestrelle '99 in Ipswich most recently) when playing the '1812'..
