We are often engaged to start a race or open a fair. As often as not celebrities give their time to help make the event memorable, and our task is to give them a few minutes training for safety and security before they fire our cannon.

Sir Harry Seacombe (of the Goons, and songs of praise) looks as though he is fiddling with a worm (used to retrieve horrible things left down the barrel of a cannon after firing).

We are frequently asked to start river races, marathons, balloon races and events of all sorts. Trevor McDonald, the famous Scotsman and Newsreader, started the great river race from Ham on the river Thames this year, by firing our cannon.
